When to reach for it
Still in the catalog because it does something 2.5 does not: it renders at 1080p and 4K, where 2.5 tops out at 720p. If the deliverable has to be delivered at full resolution rather than upscaled, this is the model in the Seedance family that can do it.
Everything else is a step down from 2.5: nine reference images rather than thirty, three reference videos rather than ten, fifteen seconds rather than thirty. For a single-subject shot that is plenty; for a crowded scene it is the constraint you will hit first.
Price scales hard with resolution: a five-second take is 33.5 credits at 480p, 75 at 720p, 187.5 at 1080p and 417 at 4K. Compose at 480p, where an attempt costs less than a coffee, and only render the take you have decided on at the resolution you need. Same six aspect ratios as 2.5, so nothing has to be re-specified when you switch between them.
