When to reach for it
The cheapest way to make an image here, and it exists for quantity. Mood boards, layout studies, twenty variations of a composition before committing, placeholder art for a storyboard that will be re-rendered later: anything where seeing a spread matters more than any single frame being right.
It takes no reference images. That is the defining limitation and it is not a small one: nothing about a Schnell render can be pinned to a subject you already have. If the image needs to contain a specific person, product or character, this is the wrong model no matter how many attempts you are willing to fund.
Ten aspect ratios, 1 MP, one setting, nothing to tune. Treat it as a sketching tool rather than a production one. Twenty Schnell renders cost less than one Nano Banana 2 at 4K, and twenty compositions teach you more than one crisp wrong one, which is the whole argument for keeping a tier this cheap in the catalog.
